MAX MCGEE'S PROFILE
I CAN'T NOT MAKE GAMES.
I have enough lockerspace to hold an episode of Friends.
"We'll make a toast to absent friends and better days,
To remembering and being remembered as brave
And not as a bunch of whining jerks!
Don't lose your nerve.
Do not go straight
You must testify
(or I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the mouth)
cause CLOWNS MUST STAND."

The Screenshot Topic Returns
@Waspshadow & Liberty above:
Well, I would never say those maps were good, exceptional, or impressive. But to be honest, I absolutely don't think they are ANYWHERE NEAR bad enough for a game to be denied. I think our minimum standards of mapping have become a little rarified guys if we're denying games on the grounds of looking like this.

That...kinda just looks like an RPG maker game to me. Obviously there's lots that can be done to make it BETTER but no way in heck is it not even good enough to be on the site. Liberty's advice for sprucing up your maps is great advice and you should take it gratefully but it shouldn't be a bar to entry for hosting on RMN.
Of course, I don't know what other issues the gamepage may have had, and am taking Waspshadow at his word when he says it was denied on the grounds of poor mapping. I am positive that there are maps I could screenshot in say Chase for Divinity (or for that matter cough Iron Gaia) that don't look much different and that demonstrate the exact same level of mapping skill. PLUS that map seems to demonstrate on-touch encounters which obviously take a degree of effort to implement. I am not singing this screenshot's praises as the be-all and end-all of screenshots, but it ABSOLUTELY meets the sniff test for "good enough to be allowed on RMN".
So yes I am just formally registering my frustration/disapproval that this game was denied. (Inb4 someone else points it out, I did say the same thing like three different ways in this post. Sorry.)

RMN PLAYS
With a lucky A (FINALLY a vowel!) I now have...THE FULL SET. I just won a PLAYS.
That means I've got two RMNs and a PLAYS or RMN RMN PLAYS. Plus some random spares. Everything but a Tess, really.
Kentona: With my PLAYS I now wanted to ask if there was any way that a Steam gift of Child of Light could be playable on my PS3 but a little research reveals that although wikipedia says that the Steam platform runs on PS3 that is not exactly the case and therefore that won't be possible. So I guess if I want to play Child of Light with my GF I'm just going to have to buy it like a normal person since I'm not sure how we'd do co-op on the PC the way I have my machine set up.
Therefore I will use my P-L-A-Y-S to request a copy of Claire, please. I had never heard of it before this contest but it looks awesome. Like something SnowOwl would make but with a (slightly) bigger budget.

It Moves
Ha, I love the idea of "fearquitting" something. I never have myself (not a game anyway: in real life I am a creature of anxiety) but I know exactly what you mean.
The Interview
It seems obvious to me that the risk of an actual attack is negligible...that theory, Feld, makes a lot more sense than what it looks like on the outside, which is that the entire world has just forgotten over night the difference between a threat and a CREDIBLE threat.
okay suckahs give me yo games
I actually became a pretty big Dragonlance fan recently so...any relation?
@Xenomic: I think what we're trying to say is...are you SURE you absolutely need that much high quality music in the game? Are you positive it is all actually used? Etcetera.
I mean I understand...file bloat can happen pretty quickly to anyone. Making 100% sure everything included in a particular build is USED in that build is a tedious and kind of annoying extra step...but it is a NECESSARY step.
I think just generally speaking there are a lot of things you're perceiving as 'necessary' that really aren't. Do you really HAVE to use mediafire? What about RMN's very accommodating native hosting service? Do you HAVE to use multiple .rars? Do you HAVE to include that much MP3 music? And so on.

But my point is that: it is not a very smart move to provoke someone that is unpredictable. Might as well just stop making fun of him before he does something rash..
I'm sorry but fuck this cowardly bullshit. There is a word for this kind of thinking and that word is appeasement. Just because someone is a tyrannical asshole dictator is no good reason not to make fun of them. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I hope the entire might of the US military apparatus is awakened to punch North Korea very very hard right in its collective micropenis.
Fear of what Hitler might do didn't stop Charlie Chaplin from taking the piss out of Hitler. Movie people used to have fucking guts. And integrity.

I Miss the Sunrise
So, I am like four years later to this particular party. But what a party it is so better late than never, right? For about four years I've been sort of buzzing by this, downloaded it a few times, maybe even installed it, never actually played it...now thanks to the inexplicably tempting promise of an arbitrarily awarded letter achievement and a whopping 1d2 maker score, I have it running in the background as I type this comment (groovy soundtrack).
Thoughts on extremely early game experience:
This game feels overwhelming even before anything has happened, even before I fight my first battle. The sheer panopticon view of game content and worldbuilding on display is virtually dizzying. I feel like due to being a rather hardcore science fiction fan I am keeping up with the storm of exposition but I have no idea how a putative "normal person" might handle it. And even as a game developer and hardened RPG veteran, the bracketed numerical letter labyrinth appearing in the tooltips for the subweapons was quite opaque to me and a little intimidating. I'm off on my first mission soon. I guess they woke me up and treated me like shit just to make me the boss...alright Inquiry commander, we cool for now. I know you know shit you ain't telling me though, you foxy character.
Short version: reminds me of starting out in Xenosaga, and compares favorably to that game thus far.
Edits: Finished my first mission and Episode 0. The wait after the boss fight to be able to save and quit was a bit harrowing for it being 3AM, but other than that no complaints. Not sure I understand the battle system much yet but at least it seems easy enough so far. I love the way that the area map is (board) game-ified and the way the player is given incentive to strike a balance between trying to make par and scrounging up extra goodies. Very very nice.
Deltree: it seems clear that you are everything I want to be when I grow up. The problem is, in spite of having accomplished more or less nothing of value I'm already a grown-ass man of 28. What do I do?
Oh...oh I see that underneath your avatar, you have already responded. Well...that seems like a risky proposition...but if you think it is best...*glug*

Hey, I made a thread and was posting comments about games before this whole contest. Don't be so hard on me.I was commenting on games before I was given achievements for commenting on games
I have played some games during this contest period just haven't commented yet. I still have a few days ;) I owe El_Waka a video and I'll comment on that one too.
A bunch of stuff happened right when this began and my free time got ate. I want achievements as much as you guys do.
good use of McConnaughey
